Toddler Pod Leader

Overview: The Southampton Youth Association, Inc., a children’s recreation non-profit for the past 51 years, is adapting to the  changing needs of the community and world. We are seeking to add a pod leader to our diverse staff who will dynamically lead a recreational and learning pod. This pod leader will facilitate creative hands-on art projects, physical outdoor activities and lay the  foundation for healthy interpersonal interactions. The leader will create a nurturing, stimulating environment where every child  feels like a part of the community. This is a new program, and the leader will have great input on the shape and direction of the  pod.  

Details: 

Potential Start Date: January 25, 2021 

Reports to: Executive Director 

Schedule: 3-4 days per week 9AM – 2PM 

Responsibilities: 

Observe, guide, supervise and assess a maximum of 4, 22 month – 30 month old children while they play and interact Develop lesson plans, monitor student engagement and write up daily reports  

Create and maintain a safe, clean and simulating space where kids feel valued 

Set an excellent example for children by modeling the SYA character traits and (sportsmanship, teamwork, respect,  persistence, and leadership) 

Encourage self-expression through understanding, flexibility and modeling 

Adhere to COVID-19 protocols 

Minimum Qualifications 

Ability to communicate joyfully and clearly with students and parents 

High level of personal and professional responsibility to the pod 

Passion for early childhood development  

First Aid training  

Physically able to lift up to 50lbs  

Prior experience working with young children  

Clear criminal record
